During a family holiday in Florida, my dad was hospitalized with chest pains. The day we were flying home he was still in the cardiac care unit, awaiting further tests. I visited him that morning and then right before boarding I called to say good-bye to him. When I asked for him, the operator asked if I was a member of the family. When I said “yes” she said, “I’ll put you right through.” Being a member of the family made all the difference!

The same goes for being a member of the family of God. The Bible says, “to all who received [Jesus], who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God.” If we believe in Jesus we become part of God’s family and that gives us the privilege of instant prayer access to God himself.
