The dictionary defines peace as, “the absence of conflict, the absence of strife or the absence of war.” There’s nothing positive about it, but simply the absence of something.
A historian analyzed 3,100 years of recorded history and found only 286 years without wars – that’s less than ten percent.
When the Bible says, “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way,” it’s not defining peace as the absence of strife. God’s peace is a deep inner confidence independent of outside circumstances. In fact, we can experience the peace of God in the midst of war.
Even when our world is filled with conflict, God offers us “peace at all times and in every way.”
