Throughout history people have always faced great difficulties. But today we seem to spend much of our energy blaming others for our problems. We blame our parents, the schools, the government, or a spouse.
In Jesus’ time, persons suffering from leprosy were ostracized. They were banned from public places by law. The Bible tells us that a man with leprosy came to Jesus and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” The leper was breaking the law by coming into a crowd and risking his life because they might stone him.
I’m impressed by this unnamed man with this terrible disease. He didn’t blame others, although he certainly must have gotten the disease from someone. He didn’t complain, but he took action. He brought his problem to Jesus.
